Director HS Energy Meets Prime Minister of Pakistan to Discuss Agricultural Reform and Energy Transformation

In a high-level meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office, Farhan Tahir, Director of HS Energy, a subsidiary of Hajisons Group, engaged in an important dialogue with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the future of Pakistan’s agricultural and energy sectors. This strategic meeting brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to explore collaborative solutions aimed at revitalizing the rural economy, ensuring food security, and accelerating the adoption of renewable energy.

Bridging Agriculture and Energy Through Policy Innovation

Representing one of Pakistan’s most dynamic and diversified agri-energy companies, Farhan Tahir highlighted the pressing challenges faced by the agriculture industry—including rising input costs, water scarcity, post-harvest losses, and energy reliability.
He emphasized that sustainable agriculture is no longer possible without integrating smart, clean energy solutions, especially for smallholder farmers who form the backbone of the rural economy.

The discussion focused on the need for public-private partnerships (PPP) to:

  • Promote mechanization and modern farming tools.
  • Expand the use of solar-powered irrigation systems.
  • Support localized renewable energy grids for agro-processing and storage.
  • Introduce policy incentives for private companies investing in agri-energy infrastructure.

A Decade of Ground-Level Impact

Farhan Tahir also shared HS Energy’s success stories from the field, including its execution of landmark projects such as:

  • The Punjab Resilient and Inclusive Agriculture Transformation (PRIAT) initiative.
  • The CM Punjab Solar Tubewell Program, where HS Energy is currently solarizing 1,000 tube wells to reduce diesel dependency and support efficient water management.

These interventions, he noted, are already transforming lives and can be scaled up rapidly with coordinated support from the government.

Prime Minister’s Vision: Private Sector as a Growth Engine

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the contributions of HS Energy and acknowledged the pivotal role the private sector can play in advancing national priorities. He stressed the government’s commitment to:

  • Facilitating ease of doing business for renewable energy and agriculture startups.
  • Gradually reducing taxes on agricultural machinery and renewable technology.
  • Strengthening PPP frameworks to ensure that innovative models like HS Energy’s are replicated nationwide.

The Prime Minister directed relevant ministries to actively engage with companies like HS Energy in upcoming policy roundtables, signaling a shift toward inclusive and market-driven agricultural and energy reforms.

A Shared Commitment to Pakistan’s Progress

Speaking after the meeting, Farhan Tahir said:

“It was an honor to present our ideas and field learnings directly to the Prime Minister. Pakistan’s future depends on how well we integrate energy and agriculture reforms. At HS Energy, we are committed to driving change that is inclusive, scalable, and sustainable.”
